| Patricia Nash nashpa@att.net 303-470-0154 |
Patricia works primarily in watercolor and oil pastel, matching the
medium to the subject and to the feeling she wishes to express. Her
figurative work captures fleeting gestures and moods as her subjects
move through the landscape. A scientist and medical researcher for 20
years, Patricia believes that integrating the arts into one's life is
important whether as a full-time profession, a semi-professional
pursuit, or a leisure time activity.

Patricia began her art studies at Penn State University in 1990 and has since
studied with Littleton artists Valerie Snyder and Martha Monet, and Art Students League
faculty members Dennis Pendelton and Barbara Froula. She has recently begun to exhibit
her work locally and won 2nd place in watercolor at the ACC Community Education art show.
Her oil pastel work was accepted into the Littleton Fine Arts Committee's 2003 juried exhibition.
Her paintings of figures in the landscape are reflections of the personality of her
subjects. Patricia conveys something singular about each person she paints by capturing the
individual's unique body language and response to the environment. People are surprisingly
recognizable by their postures and gestures and much can be conveyed about a person by accurately
portraying these characteristics.
Patricia's landscapes and cityscapes likewise are reflections of the "feeling" or "mood"
presented by the distinctive qualities of the subject and the light. She tries to paint outdoors
as much as possible in order to capture the color and light accurately, since photographs can mute
and change the color of things seen by the eye.
Commissions for paintings are welcome and the original paintings seen on this website are
available as 5x7 greeting cards.
